I started watching 30Rock the first night it came on. I love Tina Fey. I love Tracy Morgan. I love Alec Baldwin. I’m not sure why, because I really liked it, but I only watched the first few episodes. I’m sure it had to do with the time it came on or something. Well, last night I started back at the beginning. Man, I forgot how awesome this show really is. It’s just so clever and funny. Every character is perfect. The three mentioned above are genius. The guy who plays Kenneth (Ellen) is hilarious. If you haven’t seen the show, I’d suggest it. If you like funny stuff, you should like it. If you don’t like it, then you don’t really like funny stuff. There, I said it.

As described on youtube: Are you offended by Jose El Rey? The king of old school Hialeah freestyle music has arrived to explode all over you! Yes, Hialeah freestyle music! That’s in Miami! Hialeah is the juicy nalgas of Miami and Jose El Rey is the loud noise coming out of those nalgas for you to inhale!

So… Inhale this!

Nice spin move in front of Piccadilly Cafeteria!

Don’t worry… he has a myspace featuring such hits as: CHAME on U, suposibly and WE are the playerz. Amazing.

Sue emailed this video to me a few days ago. And I’m sure glad she did. Sometimes it’s hard to find just the right video to post. So… if you find a video that needs to be featured on youtube tuesdays, send it to caseyalanpatton@gmail.com, and I’ll try and get it up. There are so many great videos that need to be shared with the world/ten people who read our blog. Do it.

I got my grade back on that final I had to retake.
I got a B…which gave me an A in the class!
I am so relieved…and glad that that whole ordeal is over.
So, for the second semester in a row I got a 4.0!
Now I have to work hard this semester…but not too hard…

It’s so early… You guys wanna get some coffee or something?
(I just realized this is a pretty general quote without the accent…)

well…here i am for my quarterly update.
(i need to be more active with this blog or casey might as well change it from the pattons to the casey patton)

its saturday and of course i am trying to work on a paper…surprise, surprise.
this day is extra boring because poor casey has to work.  they have lots of stuff to get done by tuesday.  but he got free dinner (bbq) last night and he’s getting free lunch (jason’s deli) today…so that makes it a little better.

anyway, not much is new with me.
i had a wonderful christmas break in austin.
i’m back in school taking a much lighter load, just 3 classes: advanced composition, business writing, and aerobics (which i looooove).
last weekend i was in texas to be in one of my very best friends wedding.  it was the funnest wedding ever.
i’ll post a link for the pictures once the photographer gets them up.  i’m sure there will be plenty of embarrassing dancing pictures.
last tuesday i retook that final that i had a panic attack in…i feel ok about it…hopefully i did well enough to pass the class because at this point thats all i want.
work is going wonderfully.  i got a few more hours during the week so im excited about that.
more hours = more $$…which is always good.  i love my job.  it really is the best.  i would work there forever if i could.
i got my hair cut short again.  you are probably thinking, “again? its always short…”  well, short for me…i tried to let it grow out and it got way too long (for me) so i had to cut it.  i love it.
speaking of love…i just fell in love with someone this morning.  i saw her on the early show.  her name is kate walsh.  she’s a british singer/songwriter.  i’ve been listening to her songs on her myspace all morning…so good.

its been like 8 hours since i typed the above…
tonight  i cooked dinner (turkey burgers, broccoli, and fries) for casey, reid, ashley, and deena.
then we went to starbucks and played a (loooong) game of phases 10.  it was fun times.
now we are about to watch a movie…as soon as we pick one to watch…
we picked gone baby gone.

peace out,

Charlie Wilson’s War

Surprisingly great. Philip Seymour Hoffman steals the show. As usual. He is completely awesome in this movie. The scene when he first goes to Charlie’s office is amazing. This movie is funny, and touching, and sad, and informative, and interesting, and etc. It’s a good one. Also, I do not like Julia Roberts.

Shoot ‘Em Up

Holy over-the-top! And fun! If you take this movie for what it is, it’s pretty great. From start to finish it’s just shooting and killing and running. The dialog is all super cheesy one liners. Fortunately, the movie doesn’t take itself seriously at all, so it all works. I could’ve done without the skydiving scene, but other than that, I thought it was a super fun guy-type movie. If you like non-stop action and can live without much of a plot, you’ll enjoy this one.

Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead

Honestly, I don’t remember what all happened in this movie. I think probably because I got kind of tired of it towards the end. The plot was interesting enough, and the acting was great… I think it just dragged on too long. I may give it another viewing someday, but from what I remember, the ending was lacking. Might be worth a rental, but I’d probably just avoid it.

The Golden Compass

I didn’t know anything about this movie going into it, other than all the badmouthing from certain Christians, which usually makes me want to see something more. I thought the movie was great. Visually it was beautiful, the story was unique and interesting, and I have no clue what people are complaining about. I’ve heard the book is much different, so maybe that’s where the “questionable” stuff is more apparent. The only complaint I have is that the ending was very lacking. They left it WIDE OPEN for a sequel, but I haven’t seen anything online about them making one. I’m hoping I just missed something somewhere. Even still, I’d recommend this to everyone. It’s just a fun fantasy movie.

Sweeny Todd

This movie was pretty dang good. The fact that it was a musical got somewhat annoying at times, but the story and acting were great. I especially liked the little boy. His singing and acting were amazing for someone so young. It’s pretty bloody and very dark, but it’s a good time if you can deal with that.

I’m not sure why I just happened upon this today, but apparently Jon Foreman is releasing a series of solo e.p.’s. And I like what I’m hearing. I haven’t been real gung-ho about any of the recent Switchfoot releases, but I’ve always thought Jon was an excellent song writer, and he has a great voice. You can check out a whole slew (all of them?) of tracks on his myspace page.

Also, Jon and Sean Watkins (guitar player from Nickel Creek) have been working on an album together. There is only one “song” posted on their myspace, and it’s just a short instrumental, so I’m not sure what to expect from these guys. There is a video, which I’ll share with you, but I’m not sure if this is what their album will sound like, or if this was just something random they were doing. Anywho… check it all out and see if you like what you hear.

Last night I watched the pilot for a new show from AMC called Breaking Bad. It was quite awesome. It stars Bryan Cranston, best known as the dad from Malcolm in the Middle. I really don’t want to say much about it, because I think it’ll take away from the experience, should you decide to check it out. Personally, I liked going into it not knowing anything at all about it. If you must know something, IMDB describes it like this: “A drama about a high school chemistry teacher who’s suffering from the world’s worst case of mid-life crisis and becomes a criminal.” I think that even gives a little more away than I’d like to, but I guess you have to be given something so you’ll want to check it out. For a full-on synopsis, you can check out the wikipedia page, but if you like surprises, and think you’ll actually watch this show, I’d stay away.

If you like good tv, and are ready for a new series (of course you are), I’d check this out.

Slight Warning: It is a very, very dark comedy/drama, and can be quite sad and depressing at times, so don’t expect another Malcolm. It also has a lot of “adult themes” or whatever, though it is edited for cable.
