The Shield

A buddy of mine at work has gotten me hooked on this show.

It’s awesome. Really awesome.

From IMDB: The story of an inner-city Los Angeles police precinct where some of the cops aren’t above breaking the rules or working against their associates to both keep the streets safe and their self-interests intact.

The premise of the show is based on true events within the Los Angeles  Police Department’s Rampart Division.

From wikipedia: The Rampart Scandal refers to widespread corruption in the Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums (or CRASH) anti-gang unit of the LAPD Rampart Division in the late 1990s. More than 70 police officers in the CRASH unit were implicated in misconduct, making it one of the most widespread cases of documented police misconduct in United States history. The convicted offenses include unprovoked shootings, unprovoked beatings, planting of evidence, framing of suspects, stealing and dealing narcotics, bank robbery, perjury, and covering up evidence of these activities.

The show aired on FX, so it isn’t very censored. Just fyi.

They just rapped up the seventh and final season, which makes me happy because there is an end in sight.

I just started season three.

Seasons 1 through 6 are on DVD.

You should check it out.
